Case Study: The Power of Business Engines

Updated: Apr 22

Once embedded in the organization, a Business Engine becomes a platform that simultaneously provides the necessary cohesiveness to improve current operations while also offering the necessary flexibility and agility to accelerate business scaling and evolution. An early case study of this is PRS, a digitally based talent and skills recruiting player in US Mid West focused on sourcing and landing nursing talent from the Philippines into US hospitals. After some early success in standing up its business model, PRS was experiencing a slow down in growth due to difficulty scaling beyond the bandwidth of the founders. In many ways, the founders themselves had been the initial operating model managing the flow of the business across disparate functions. An integrated digital operating model was created that automatically enabled business operations to flow optimally, resulting in aggressive scaling as well as movement into other geographic markets and talent areas. Moreover, employees could now see the entire operating model and their role within it and were empowered with the knowledge and tools to manage and improve operations with minimal guidance. The platform also enabled the creation and seamless integration of a shared service organization in the Philippines that further improved efficiency, effectiveness and the potential to scale. As a result, the business quickly saw significant tangible improvement in all areas of the business.
