Rather than Buying More Fish, Organizations need to Enable More People to Fish.
Most companies still “buy” change. Big initiative. Big consultants. Big bill. And, yes, often big results ... in the short term.
But here’s the problem - often, when the work leaves, the capability leaves with it. You’re left with a new solution… but the same dependency. Even more importantly, the experience of how to approach evolving the enterprise may have also left with the consultants.
That might have worked when change was episodic and occasional. It doesn’t work in a world where change is constant.
Today, the only real competitive advantage is the ability to evolve—continuously. That’s not something you outsource. It’s something you design into the business itself.
The most important characteristic of a Future Ready organization is that it is designed to enable continuous evolution, with a high degree of self sufficiency. Otherwise, it will never keep pace.
